The Primary School at Fort Rucker welcomed spouses and children of deployed soldiers for their annual Deployment Tea.
The counseling area of the Department of Defense Education Activity allows the counselors from each school to organize activities for families dealing with deployment.
Guidance Counselor Mietta Hammond, along with other elementary school staff, put on the tea as well as write a letter that is emailed to each of the deployed soldiers with children at Fort Rucker.
"It provides a way for parents to keep in touch or stay in touch with children as to what is going on during the day, the month because they can't be here but it is our way of communicating with them," Hammond said.
