Fort Campbell High School's Lady Falcons soared over its rivals Saturday at the annual Hopkinsville Invitational track meet at the Stadium of Champions.
The girls' team placed first with 145 points while the boys earned a third-place finish with 87 points.
"The kids did fairly well," said Fort Campbell coach Tavis Kennedy. "I'm really pleased with our girls. Our girls are overcoming some adversity with some other teammates being injured. A lot of people stepped up. We've got some key girls injured. When we train, we don't just train individuals. We train the whole team."
In the 400-meter dash, the Lady Falcons' Skylar Standokes ran a first-place time of 1:02.04. Fort Campbell's Paige Updike ran a 13:26.32 in the 3,200-meter run, earning a third-place finish.
The Lady Falcons added to their lead in the 100-meter hurdles as Kelsi Avana finished in first place (17.08) and T'Kia Collins placed third (17.66).
Collins also ran a 50.62 in the 300-meter hurdles, picking up another third-place finish. Fort Campbell earned a first-place finish with a 52.87 in the 100-meter relay while Hoptown finished in second (53.28) and Christian County placed third (53.29). The Lady Falcons also placed first in the 200-meter relay with a 1:51.44, followed by the Lady Tigers in second (1:51.60) and the Lady Colonels in third (1:57.91).
