Fort Campbell -- Barsanti Gives Thanks
Fort Campbell Courier
Fort Campbell, KY | December 6, 2013
Barsanti Elementary School was host to a special Thanksgiving event Nov. 25. Mrs. O'Dell's third grade class prepared and served a Thanksgiving meal to more than 40 Soldiers from the Warrior Transition Battation at Fort Campbell. The students tried to replicate, as close as possible, the very first Thanksgiving at Plymouth, Mass. in 1622. The Soldiers were served a feast consisting of roasted venison with carrots, baked cod, cornish game hens with stuffing, green beans, baked butternut squash, sweet potato casserole, corn on the cob and more. The purpose of the event was two-fold – to show the school's tremendous gratitude and appreciation to the Soldiers for their sacrifice and service to the Nation and to teach students the importance of giving back to those who have given so much to our Nation through military service. After the meal was served, the Barsanti Choir and Drama Club performed for the Soldiers.
