The Falcons bid farewell to their dreams of a fourth state championship Friday night at Fryar Stadium when they lost to South Warren High School 24-7 in round two of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Class 3-A Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl.
Coming into the match, Fort Campbell held a 9-2 record and South Warren 8-3. The stage seemed set for a close match. But Fort Campbell's playing turned out to be chaotic.
South Warren obviously did their homework. The team targeted sophomore running back Triston Luke, effectively shutting him down. Luke, who needed only 62 yards to plant himself in Fort Campbell High School's record book as the first running back to reach 2,000 yards in a season, was held to a shocking negative 3 yards on seven carries.
