Continuous School Improvement

Continuous School Improvement (CSI) is an ongoing process that helps schools focus their efforts in support of their mission and goals. Student performance and school/community data is analyzed and used to develop plans to ensure all students are learning and progressing toward achievement of academic standards.

The CSI Leadership Team meets on Thursdays. Parents are always welcome!

Student Performance Goals

Goal 1:  K - 3 will improve reading comprehension across the curriculum.

Essence: Reading comprehension is the understanding of the text that goes beyond surface meaning.

Indicators of Success
  1. Students will answer reading comprehension questions using higher order thinking skills.
  2. Students will complete reading comprehension assessment tests that utilize higher order questions.
  3. Students will ask reading comprehension questions that reflect higher order thinking skills.  
Intervention

Students will use graphic organizers in grades K-3 to improve reading comprehension.  

Supporting Strategies  
  • Teachers will model, demonstrate, and teach Kidspiration/ Inspiration to students in grades K-5.
  • Students will learn and apply graphic organizers in Reading comprehension activities. 
 
Staff Development 
  • All Staff will use research based strategies to improve reading comprehension through data driven instruction.
  • Students will receive instruction using either Kidspiration or Inspiration programs to improve reading comprehension.
  • All Students will be able to demonstrate comprehension through analyzing text.

 

Goal 1:  4 - 5 will improve writing across the curriculum.

Essence: Writing  is the understanding of the process of developing a complete writing piece..

Indicators of Success
  1. Students will use optimal learning model to improve writing.
  2. Students will use editing conferences to improve their writing.
Intervention

Students will use the writing process and conferencing to improve their writing.

Supporting Strategies  
  • Teachers will model, demonstrate, and practice the writing process and conferencing with the students.
Staff Development 
  • All Staff will use research based strategies to improve writing through data driven instruction.
  • Students will receive instruction on the writing process and conferencing to improve their writing.

 

Goal 2:  All students will improve in language usage across the curriculum.

Essence: Language is the understanding of the process of communicating correctly through written pieces.

Indicators of Success  

       1. Students will use the editing process to improve their language usage.

       2. Students will use editing conferences to improve their language usage

Intervention  

       Students will use daily oral language, dictation, and editing to improve their language skills.

Supporting Strategies  
  •  Teachers will model, demonstrate, and practice language development.
 
Staff Development 
      
  • All Staff will use research based strategies to improve language skills through data driven instruction.
  • Students will receive instruction on daily oral language, dictation, and editing.
