Glenn Hughes was named principal for E.A. White Elementary school in June of 2009. Prior to becoming White ES Principal he had worked for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) for more than 15 years in a variety of administrative positions around the world. He was Principal at Stowers Elementary School at Fort Benning from 1994-2001 and was named DDESS Principal of the Year. He left Stowers to become the Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) for Instructional Technology for the Fort Benning Schools. In 2003, he joined the DoDDS-Pacific school system as an Elementary Systems Specialist. When he returned to the States in 2003, Mr. Hughes came to the Area Service Center in Peachtree City, as a DDESS Area ISS for Educational Technology, Information Centers and Professional Technical Studies.
A native of Columbus, GA, Mr. Hughes began his teaching career with the Muscogee County Schools. He earned both his bachelor's degree and his master's degree from Columbus (GA) State University and his education specialist's degree from Troy State University, Troy, AL He and his wife, Daphne, have one daughter, Claire, and reside in Phenix City, AL.
