¡Hola y Bienvenidos!

Me llamo Srta. S y soy tu maestra de español.   (My name is Miss S and I am your Spanish teacher. )

Wilson Habla Español - We are part of the DoDEA World Language Program

Your K-3rd grade student(s) will have Spanish twice a week for a total of 90 minutes per week 

Goals

My goals for this year include helping your student improve his/her reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills in the Spanish language. I also hope to help increase his/her cultural knowledge while promoting a safe, fun, and active learning environment. Please help me with my goals by encouraging your student(s) to practice Spanish outside of the school setting!  

DoDEA Foreign Language Standards

Our learning is determined by DoDEA's Foreign Language Standards.

The main standards covered: 

  • FL1b:  Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics.  
  • Component- FL1b.1: Builds and expands a basic vocabulary in the target language.

Grading Policy

La clase de español de la escuela Richard G. Wilson is part of the core curriculum of the school program. The required grade to pass the course is an S.  The following is the grading policy:

  • L - Limited progress:  A lack of listening/speaking skills with no response to basic questions, and little to no participation in class when prompted.

  • S - Steady progress:  The student is beginning to show awareness of the language. Student listens although may not still use the language. Student attempts to initiate communication in Spanish.

  • M - Met goal:  Student is initiating dialogue in Spanish, attempts to extend activities, follows all directions, allows for the class to flow without unnecessary interruptions.

  • E - Exceeded the goal:  Student shows the use of learned Spanish outside of the classroom, with friends, with the teacher, and attempts written form. Student extends activities and inquires for more words to make sentences. Student is both initiator and leader in the use of the language.

Goal 1

By June of 2014, all students will solve mathematical tasks and demonstrate their mathematical thinking and reasoning by using problem-solving strategies as measured by the Problem Solving rubric, Terra Nova 3rd Edition Scholastic Math Inventory.

Goal 2

By June 2014, all students will improve reading comprehension using the strategies matching readers to appropriate text and through use of explicit fluency instruction as measured by age appropriate quarterly assessments including the BAS Reading List (K), the BAS Fluency assessment and rubrics (grades 1–5), the Scholastic Reading Inventory (grades 3-5), and the Terra Nova, 3rd Edition (grades 3-5).
