The Fort Rucker Primary School, which houses grades Pre-K through first was constructed in 1973. Recent renovations include upgraded playground equipment with new play surfaces and re-tiled gym and cafeteria floors. The DoDEA Safe Schools initiatives have provided increased security with new external and internal key-less access and motion sensors in all hallways.
The Fort Rucker Elementary and Primary Schools are Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DoD DDESS). In the Fall of 2002, the Fort Rucker schools were consolidated with Fort Benning schools. In 2003, Fort Rucker became a part of the Georgia/Alabama District, which encompasses Fort Rucker, Fort Benning, and Maxwell Air Force Base.
