Fort Rucker Severe Weather Information
During severe weather warnings, parents are welcome to sit with their children and encouraged to take shelter in the schools as needed. A Liability Release Form is required for release of students during severe weather warnings.
Fort Rucker Schools will be open every day unless the base is closed. Once the school day has begun, students will not be dismissed until the end of the school day except in cases of extreme emergency. The Fort Rucker School System is NOT a part of the Alabama Public School System.
In the event of possible cancellation, parents will be notified through the One Call Now telephone system .
Bus riders are not affected by rainy/bad weather days. However, our walkers and bikers must have an alternate plan on file. You will be notified via One Call Now of Bad Weather Dismissals. During Bad Weather Days, students must be picked up by an adult. You may pick up your child by following one of these 2 options:
- You may park across the road from the front of the school and enter through the front doors. You will be given a rainy day pass to go to the gym and retrieve your child. Then please exit back through the front and return the pass. This keeps our pedestrians away from the moving car line.
- You may enter the car lane via Boyce Lane and follow the back driveway to the student pick up area. Please do not stop on Farrell Road to collect bicycles as this impedes the traffic flow.We have worked diligently to make this plan as efficient and effective as possible.Thank you for your support in helping keep our precious students safe.
