Fort Benning, GA | February 1, 2012
Students wore birthday hats and colorful balloons decorated the auditorium Tuesday at Fort Benning’s E.A. White Elementary to celebrate the school’s 50th anniversary.
The school on main post was dedicated in the name of Lt. Edward Ansel White in 1962, 12 years after he was killed on Aug. 2, 1950, during the Korean War, as he returned to Company F, 5th Cavalry Regiment to supply soldiers with more ammunition near Kumchon.
To remember his sacrifice, about 350 students, teachers, relatives and military leaders gathered in the school auditorium for a birthday program.
