The Gold Standard

Dedication, determination, and diligence are qualities it takes to be a winner! That's exactly what it took for two eCYBERMISSION teams at Macdonald to become recognized as State Winners in the 12th Annual eCYBERMISSION competition.
Team Midnight Leopards and Team Shooting Stars have been selected as the first and second place winners for 6th grade within DoDEA. Noticing a problem with litter and animal droppings in their neighborhoods and on their way to school, the Midnight Leopards devised a plan and created a Multi-Purpose Scooper. The MPS is a solution to how the community could be cleaner and safer for everyone. Adjustable handles and bag attachments add convenience and make "scooping up" unwelcomed items a little easier. As first place winners, each member of the team will be receiving a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond.
The Shooting Stars have been recognized as second place winners with their prototype of The Water Wheel. This piece of playground equipment utilizes kinetic energy to produce filtered rainwater while individuals enjoy playing outside. Their prize consists of $500 U.S. Savings Bonds for each student. eCYBERMISSION is a program that challenges student to explore how Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics work in their world. It is a web-based STEM competition offered by the U.S. Army Educational Outreach Program for students in grades six through nine and fosters scientific inquiry of solutions to real-world problems in the community.
