Summer is winding down and for many local area children entering their third week of school, so has the excitement of school. The thrill of crisp notebook pages, fancy sharpened pencils and brand new gear has died down to reality – with school comes work.
Like a lot of seventh graders, Jane Zink finds math a bit challenging. Many times, needing help with her homework, the West Creek middle schooler would turn to her mother, Amy.
"One day my mom and I were arguing about a math problem, because we both learned it different ways," said Jane. "So she began looking up tutoring websites and came across Tutor.com. Now my grades in certain subjects like math have gone up. I use it all the time and with the school year starting I'll probably use it more."
Tutor.com for U.S. Military Families is a Department of Defense-backed web-based program that allows students to work one-to-one with a live tutor online for help with homework, studying, test preparation, proofreading and essay-writing. Tutors are readily available 24/7 in more than 40 subjects including algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, earth science, language arts, history and advanced placement-level courses. Best of all, it is offered at no cost to eligible military Families.
