PEACHTREE CITY, GA — May 2, 2017 — Macdonald Elementary School second grade student, Amaya Lawniczack, participated in the “Dream Out Loud Challenge” and as a winner, is the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship. Macdonald ES is located on Fort Knox, Ky., and is in the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Americas Southeast District.
The Dream Out Loud Challenge is a creative contest that gives parents of Kentucky students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade six, a chance to win a $1,000 college savings account and $500 for their child’s school. The program encourages students to start thinking about how higher education may help them realize their dreams, while promoting the importance of saving early for college. All students were given the opportunity to participate in the contest and could enter an original drawing, a written essay or a poetry entry.
“We are pleased that Amaya and her family took advantage of the opportunity to showcase her talents by writing about how she plans to change the world after college,” said Macdonald Principal Angelique Joyner. “Both School Guidance Counselor Brenda Tucker and I are so proud of Amaya.
“Our students are learning daily how to be world changers, problem solvers and better communicators,” Joyner said. “With our College and Career Readiness emphasis in all subject areas, we feel we are communicating to them the importance of being prepared to compete in a dynamic world and workforce.”
Amaya, who is the daughter of Sgt. Robert and Tanesia Lawniczack, will be recognized at an awards ceremony Monday, May 22, 2017. Officials from the Kentucky Higher Education Authority will make the presentation in front of the entire MacDonald ES school body.
