Duncan Named Dahlgren School Principal

PEACHTREE CITY, GA — August 15, 2013 — Dr. Elizabeth Middlemiss, Interim Director for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS)-Cuba, announced today that Dr. Jeffrey Duncan has been named principal of Dahlgren School, aboard the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren (Va.) in the New York/Virginia/Puerto Rico (NY/VA/PR) District.
Dr. Duncan joined DoDEA a year ago and has served as the Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) for Secondary Science in the NY/VA/PR District. Previously, he served as a high school assistant principal for 12 years in the Henrico County (Va.) school system. He began his education career as a science teacher in Virginia.
"Jeff Duncan is a proven member of our District team," said Mr. Michael Gould, NY/VA/PR District Superintendent. "He brings expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) infusion and accreditation standards that will fit well with Dahlgren School priorities."
Originally from Iowa, Dr. Duncan has lived in Virginia for the past 20 years. He earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point; a Master's of Arts Degree in Science Education from the University of Iowa and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
