PEACHTREE CITY, GA — November 5, 2013 — Dr. Elizabeth Middlemiss, Interim Director for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS)-Cuba, announced today that Dr. Taminika Shadd has been named principal of Pierce Terrace Elementary School, at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Dr. Shadd joined DoDEA in April 2010 when she was selected as the Administrative Officer for the DDESS schools at Fort Jackson, a position she held until being named principal of Pierce Terrace ES.She served 13 years in the South Carolina public school system as a teacher, assistant principal and principal.
"Dr. Shadd is passionate about teaching and learning," said Dr. Samantha Ingram, South Carolina/Fort Stewart District Superintendent."I am confident that she will lead Pierce Terrace Elementary School in the continued pursuit of excellence and in expanding our improvements in communication and relationship building with all stakeholders in the Fort Jackson Community."
A native of Midland, Texas, Dr. Shadd is the daughter of two educators.She earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business from Winthrop University, Rock Hill, S.C., a Master's of Arts Degree in Teaching from the University of South Carolina, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Southern Mississippi. She and her husband, James, have four daughters.
