Major Concepts/Content: This course is to increase student preparedness in basic algebra and trigonometry skills as used in engineering. The objective of this course is to increase student motivation and success in engineering through an application-oriented, hands-on introduction to engineering mathematics. This course does not introduce new concepts in mathematics. This course assumes that students have been previously exposed to all necessary mathematical concepts. These concepts will be reviewed, refreshed, and mastered through application to engineering problems. Math topics will be reinforced within the context of engineering application.
Major Instructional Activities: Students will be expected to complete a number of projects and will become proficient in a variety of technology applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. The projects will vary as students are given the opportunity to explore areas of interest and future career opportunities.
Major Evaluative Techniques: Students will demonstrate their knowledge through tests, hands-on demonstrations, technical reports, projects, case studies, and reflections.

- Algebraic manipulation of engineering equations
- Vectors and complex numbers
- Sinusoids and harmonic signals
- Systems of equations
