Fort Campbell, KY | May 22, 2013
Paced by a pair of individual state titles from Khalil Maynard and another title from Jordan Gibbs-Francis, Fort Campbell won its third state track title in the past five years winning the Kentucky 1A state championship on Saturday at Owsley Frazier Cardinals Park on the University of Louisville campus.
Along with three individual state titles, the Falcons also won the 4x400 state title with a time of 3:26.81, took second in the 4x100 and fifth in the 4x200. Maynard won state titles in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 14.77 and 38.37, respectively.
Maynard's time in the 300 meter hurdles was a new state record. "We had those individuals have great meets, but it was really a team effort," Fort Campbell assistant coach Nate Moore said.
"We had just about everyone contribute with meaningful team points and that's what it takes to win state titles. It's the kids who finish second, third or fourth, along with the kids who win state championships."
