The Aviano Elementary Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Committee launched its STEM efforts this year and culminated with bringing community members together for its first annual STEMposium held on May 3.Over 40 professionals from the Aviano community presented information on the value of STEM to their positions and provided demonstrations using tools and equipment essential to their jobs. Brigadier General Scott Zobrist also worked with Aviano Elementary byrecording a message to all students about the urgency to cultivate interest inSTEM. He later provided openingstatements to guest participants emphasizing the value of their contribution.Aviano students, K through 5, enjoyed various hands-on activities along with the opportunity to broaden their views on STEM career prospects. This year was a launching year and the Aviano STEM committee has great plans to build upon its initial success in the years to come. The students and community are already looking to the next Aviano Elementary School STEMposium.
