Fort Campbell High School’s boys soccer team came into the Aug. 21 game at the Mahaffey Middle School field against Hopkins County Central with hopes for victory.
The Falcons sought to add a morale-boosting win to their 0-1 record after having lost their season opener against Trigg County Aug. 18. However, after losing much of its starting line-up to graduation and PCS moves this past year, that seemed a difficult task for the young and inexperienced Falcons team.
“That is one of our weaknesses – they are a young team,” said head coach Alex Romero. “They haven’t played together as long as some of these other teams have, but what they lack in their passing abilities, they make up for by playing hard.”
At the start of the match, Fort Campbell appeared confident, successfully keeping the Storm offense at bay and away from any goal opportunities with an unyielding defense
