    DoDEA director visits Baumholder schools

    Students at Smith and Wetzel Elementary Schools and Baumholder Middle High School received a visit from Department of Defense Education Activity Director Marilee Fitzgerald April 24.

    After visiting classrooms at Wetzel Elementary School, Fitzgerald was treated to the STEM Club's demonstration of their robots, gifted education projects, a cheerleader performance and a meet and greet session with teachers. While at Smith Elementary, Fitzgerald celebrated students who made marked improvements in their reading development.

    She also observed reintegration sessions with the guidance counselor at Smith Elementary, "talked technology" integration with fifth-graders and experienced virtual learning with the kindergarten students in art class via the Smithsonian Visual Arts conference.

    At Baumholder Middle High School Fitzgerald toured classrooms, ate lunch with staff and students and participated in a video teleconference on the Flipped Classroom approach in algebra. Fitzgerald's
