Student Council

The purpose of student council is to: develop leadership skills and to practice good citizenship, promote harmonious relations throughout the entire school, improve student/faculty relationships, improve school morale and general welfare, plan special events or projects such as Homecoming, spirit weeks and Field day, attend school improvement meetings, take part in implementing our mission and goal.

Eligibility Requirements: Any student in good standing both academically and socially may run for election in student council.
Weekly meeting attendance is mandatory, as well as participation in event preparations, school improvement (attend CSI and SILT meetings), and attend monthly School Advisory Committee (SAC) meetings.

Meets: Every Tue. during lunch. See school sponsor for location.

Procedure for joining:  Any student wishing to run for BAHS Student Council Office must attend meetings and run for office by filling out the intent to run for office application. Voting takes place during the meetings when all of the candidates have been given the opportunity to turn in the required paperwork. The application must be approved by the principal and guidance councilor.

Membership: The High School Student Council is made up of four elected officers, grade-level officers and various class representatives: one President in 11th or 12th grade, one Vice President in 11th or 12th grade, a secretary in 10th through 12th and a treasurer in 10th through 12th grade.

The Middle School Student Council is made up of four elected officers, grade level officers and various class representatives: one President in 7th or 8th grade, one Vice President in 7th or 8th grade, a secretary in 7th or 8th grade and treasurer in 7th or 8th grade.

Student 2 Student

Eligibility: Any and all 7th through 12th grade students who are positive, open minded, friendly, well rounded and posses good leadership, citizenship and service skills who are interested in being ambassadors to our school and community by sponsoring new students who come to Baumholder.

Description: Student are trained to provide leadership in order to support students who are transitioning to or from their school. The team is composed of advisors and students of all grade levels.The focus is student-centered, and is student-led. Students act as sponsors to new students, ambassadors to the school. They are available to answer questions via email before new students arrive, they greet them upon arrival, give personalized tours of the school, answer the many questions new students have about our school and community, host social events for new students and students leaving, and help to give the new students an overallpositive experience during their transition to our school..

Meeting days are determined as needed when new students arrive or when students leave.

National Honors Society (NHS)

Eligibility: Open to 11th/12th graders (apply as 10th/11th graders in February) Must have 3.4 GPA (without rounding)  at the end of semester

Description: The 4 pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character

Meeting Times: Mon. during high school lunch.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)

Eligibility: Open to 7-10th graders

Must have 3.4 GPA (without rounding)  at end of semester

Description: The 5 pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, Citizenship

Meeting Times: We meet most Mon. during high school lunch.

Junior Class Club

Eligibility: Must be in the 11th grade.

Description: The Junior Class Club is in charge of fundraising and organizing the Junior/Senior Prom at the high school.

Meetings: Wed. during lunch in the Junior Class sponsor's classroom.

Life Strategies Group

Eligibility: Offered to all grades. Must have no F's and need approval from the Seminar Teacher.

Description: The Life Strategies Group is a support group that discuss topics related to social development, self esteem, teamwork and leadership. Topics include Girls Brain vs. Boy Brain, self-image, fitting in, standing out, being a friend to make a friend and team  building.

Meeting Times: Groups are voluntary and meet on during Seminar from 1:30PM to 2:30PM in the school's multi purpose room.

After School Tutoring

Eligibility: For grades 7-12

Description: Help with assignments is provided by sponsor or Honor society tutors.

Meeting Times: 3:00PM-4:00PM Mon. and Thu. each week.

Math

Eligibility: Middle School Grades 7-8

Description: Problem Solving exploration.

Meeting Times: Maroon Day Lunch 1105AM-1245PM  and after school as needed.
