Dear Parents and Students,
On behalf of the faculty and staff I would like to welcome you to Ramstein High School, Home of the Royals. Our school's fully qualified educators and combined with high expectations have enabled us to prepare programs for the students that compare favorably with stateside schools of similar size.
This parent/student handbook has been assembled to provide you with information to assist you to better familiarize yourself with our educational programs and daily operational procedures. If you have questions or concerns you are invited to call, e-mail or come in to talk with me or one of the assistant principals..
We expect you to be active participants in your education. We encourage you to become involved in our school's programs and special activities while living in the unique overseas environment. Principal, Ramstein High School
Sharon O'Donnell is starting her first year at Ramstein High School. Previously she served 5 year as principal of Wiesbaden High School.
Before Wiesbaden she served with DoDDS-Europe and DDESS as a science and language arts teacher at various grade levels prior to becoming Assistant Principal and Acting Principal at Spangdahlem Middle School in 1999. In August 2001, Sharon moved to Wiesbaden High School as an Assistant Principal. In August 2004m, she assumed the duties of Principal at Mannheim High School. In 2009 she was re-assigned to Wiesbaden High School
Sharon received her Bachelors and Master's degree in education from Northern Arizona University. She has taught in Arizona, Washington D.C., Georgia and Virginia schools before joining DoDDS in 1984.
As the daughter of an Army officer and the widow of a retired Army Warrant Officer, she is thoroughly familiar with the unique lifestyle and challenges facing the military child. As a result of her family's frequent moves she attended thirteen elementary and middle schools and five high schools and is proud to be called a "Military Brat"
Sharon is married to Donald Seltzer and has two children, Katie (Wiesbaden High School Graduate of 2006) and Scott, 22, (Mannheim High School Graduate 2010). Her personal interests include reading, travelling and training her golden retriever puppy, Walker.
