Student Activities

All students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities whether they be athletic, academic or social in nature. These activities help to shape students and prepare them for the future as part of a well rounded education.

School clubs are a great way to develop new interests and to make new friends. Students can select these activities based on their interests. Several teachers are the sponsors and coordinate the programs with parents, students, and community volunteers. We provide the following clubs/activities:

  

Hedgehog Singers

Eligibility: Students in Grades 4 and 5
Description: This after school choir club gives students the opportunity to learn singing skills while preparing for performances.
Meeting Time/Sponsor: Wednesdays: 3:00-4:00 / Mrs. Boland

Gardening Club

Eligibility: Students in Grades 3, 4 and 5
Description: Students will learn basic gardening skills by tidying and planting up the various beds and containers around the school. Students will learn to identify parts of a plant, basic needs of plants, life cycle of plants and the role of insects in the garden. Students are required to bring gloves for safety while gardening.
Meeting Time/Sponsor: Mondays: 3:00-4:00 (This club will meet Apr-May.) / Ms. Veazey

Kids On the Move

Eligibility: Students in Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5
Description:
Meeting Time/Sponsors: Thursdays: 3:00-4:00/ Ms. DK, Mrs. Kautz and Ms. PenDell

Hedgehog Drama Club

Eligibility: Students in Grades 3, 4 and 5
Description: This club will be of interest for students who enjoy many things which are related to drama. Students will have the opportunity to play parts in a production, create backgrounds/sets, design costumes and learn what it takes to produce a show.

Lego Club

Eligibility: Grades 2 and 3
Description:
Meeting Time/Sponsor: Thursdasy: 3:00-4:30/ Mrs. Mako

Robotics

Eligibility: Grades 4 and 5
Description: This club's focus is to encourage students to solve challenges by working together. Students will use Lego Mindstorms EV3 kits to increase their understanding of robotics, computer programming and most importantly...how to work as a team.

Sign Language Club

Eligibility: Grades 2 and 3
Description:
Meeting Time/Sponsor: Wednesday: 3:00-4:00/Mrs. Elvin

**Parents will need to provide after school pick up (if necessary). The parent and sponsor will coordinate the transportation plan (parent picking up, student walking, etc.).

After school athletics for elementary school age students are the responsibility of Youth Services - not DoDEA. DoDEA does not have authority nor does it receive funding to initiate such services.
