Affordable Care Act (ACA)

On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed Public Law 111-148, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The President also signed into law on March 30, 2010, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, Public Law 111-52, (collectively, they are referred to as the Affordable Care Act).

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Public Law 111-148 and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, Public Law 111-152, the Federal government, state governments, insurers, employers, and individuals are given shared responsibility to reform and improve the availability, quality, and affordability of health insurance coverage in the United States.

It is uncertain how total implementation of the ACA will affect benefits under the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program. Some changes have already been implemented while others are pending. Continue to refer to this website for updated information as it becomes available.
