Dear Students and Parents,
Middle school is a very special time, with tremendous growth for children, socially, intellectually, and physically. Except for infancy, more changes occur in our ten to fourteen year old children than at any other time in life. AMS welcomes the opportunity to teach and mentor our students during this critical time of growth and development.
During school year 2013-2014, it is our continued goal to provide our middle school students with innovative standards-based learning activities premised upon high expectations for academic achievement and success. It is my goal that we work together to create an educational atmosphere where all stakeholders – students, parents, military community, and school staff – put forth extraordinary effort to ensure we learn, share, and experience success in a positive and caring student-centered climate.
Parental involvement is an essential ingredient in a successful middle school. Although the ways in which you have been involved may change, your children still need your support, and we need your input. There are ways you can be involved while honoring your child's growing independence. Your involvement communicates a strong positive message to your children, and your feedback helps the school understand what's working and what isn't on the individual child and program levels.
I hope this summer has been good for your family, and that you have had some relaxing time together to explore the wonderful island of Guam. It is an honor and a privilege to be principal of a school with great students, outstanding teachers, caring parents, and a supportive military command. I look forward to a successful, and fun-filled school year. As always, if you have any ideas, comments, questions, or thoughts you want to share, please don't hesitate to contact me at any time via phone (366-3880).
