DHS Specific Information
DHS has several programs within Special Education to meet the needs of our students:
Resource Room
A place for students with IEP's to go when they need extra time/help on an assignment or test. Also a quiet place to work when classroom distractions become too much.
Case Study Committee (CSC)
This committee consists of special education teachers, a classroom teacher, school psychologist, counselors, an administrator, the school nurse, and others as needed/required. Meetings are held weekly to discuss student referrals, assessment planning, and special needs programs for students. Counselors and the CSC Chairpersons are responsible for checking students' records to identify students who may require special services.
Child Find
Child Find is an on-going, cooperative effort involving school staff, local base units, military organizations, and parenting groups. DoDDS Child Find is the process to seek, screen, and identify children (from three to 21 years of age) who may have a disability and be in need of special education services.
