Dear Students and Parents/Sponsors,
Welcome to school year 2014-15! This is my first year as the Principal of Daegu High School and I couldn't be prouder to serve you! Our staff focuses on providing a world-class education to all students. Our school has a keen focus on College and Career Readiness and STEM and we will continue to expand these efforts throughout the year. Our teachers have also engaged in continuous staff development training that will position them to deliver the highest quality instruction to all students. Rigor is alive and well at DHS so expect your student to be challenged! We are continually reviewing our data and working on plans for continued improvement. This year, we will continue our two school goals of improving critical analysis and reasoning skills and writing skills. We fully understand the benefits when students can read, write, and comprehend, think critically, collaborate, and create. These skills, part of 21st Century skills, focus on the needed critical competencies for College and Career success now and in the next century. We are poised to continue a culture where academic success is the focus, and achievement is the result in a safe, caring environment. While we are a small school we are proud to offer a full complement of course offerings including: all core subjects, special education, foreign language, honors and advanced placement courses, virtual school, fine and performing arts, journalism, yearbook, career tech, gaming and other technology courses, and Army JROTC. We are excited about the challenge to get to know all students and families. We believe in building relationships. Please consider getting involved in our school to bring your ideas for improvement and support. We have several ways that you can get involved. You can volunteer or join one of our parent groups aimed at School Improvement such as our Parent Teacher Student Organization or our School Advisory Council. We would love to have you more engaged here, and so would your children. We have several ways to communicate with our community including phone contact, Facebook, email or Gradespeed- our student information system. Also, please review our website often as it contains a wealth of information. We have something for everyone here at DHS and always want you to feel welcome. We strongly encourage you to get involved. You make all of the difference. Welcome to Korea! We want your time at DHS to be the very best. Please let us know if there is anything that you need! Our main number is (DSN) 746-4645 and from U.S. 011-82-053-470-4645.
Sincerely,Altorn R. Grade Jr.
