About Our School

Photo of KMS Front DoorNamed for Kadena Air Base, on which it is located, Kadena Middle School opened its doors to students in September, 1990.   With an average annual attendance of nearly 700, over 14,000 military and civilian dependents have been KMS Wolverines since opening.

Purpose Statement

To guide our students into becoming independent and productive learners by providing a rigorous and multifaceted curriculum in a safe and supportive environment in order to prepare them for high school and beyond.


Continuous School Improvement Goals

Goal 1: All students will increase their reading comprehension in all curricular areas.

Goal 2: Students will be able to respond appropriately in writing to constructed response prompts.   

We belong to the DoDEA Pacific DoDDS Okinawa School District which is part of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA).  DoDEA is a Department of Defense field activity operating under the direction, authority, and control of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness and the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy.
