Named for Kadena Air Base, on which it is located, Kadena Middle School opened its doors to students in September, 1990. With an average annual attendance of nearly 700, over 14,000 military and civilian dependents have been KMS Wolverines since opening.

We belong to the DoDEA Pacific DoDDS Okinawa School District which is part of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). DoDEA is a Department of Defense field activity operating under the direction, authority, and control of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness and the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy.
