Prior to joining DoDEA, Brown taught in Gainesville, Georgia, and Spartanburg, South Carolina.  Martha joined DoDDS in 1981.

Brown acquired her Master’s Degree in Education from North Georgia College in 1979.  She achieved an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Supervision from Converse College in 1988 and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina, in 1968.

Dr. Bresell stated, "Martha joins the high performing Okinawa district team, working in partnership with the community, and continuing the tradition of educational excellence for our students. We are extremely fortunate to have this well qualified individual as one of our Pacific leaders. Martha brings to the Okinawa District a philosophy that schools represent the foundation for the communities we serve and that teachers are a precious resource. Her skills as a communicator come to us as we take on many new challenges and opportunities relating to transformation and realignment.”
