Ms. Martha Brown, Superintendent, DoDDS Okinawa, is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Terry Gibson as Principal of Kadena High School.
Originally from Northwest Oklahoma, Mr. Gibson has an appreciation and understanding of the military community, family and children having served himself as an Army medical corpsman. “Terry brings experience, enthusiasm and commitment to the mission as he assumes the helm of Kadena High School. He is an excellent fit for the school, the district and the community,” reports Ms. Brown.
Mr. Gibson graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in physical education and a minor in biology. After graduating, he taught science and coached in Lenapah, Oklahoma, and then moved to Niobrara High School in Coldwater, Kansas, where he taught and coached for 13 years.
He received a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati and then moved to Newport, Arkansas, where he served as Assistant Principal of Newport High School for the last four years. “I am looking forward to the move to Okinawa, becoming a part of the DoDEA community, and working with the students, faculty, and parents of Kadena High School,“ reports Mr. Gibson. He and his wife plan to arrive on the island in July.
