Phillip Ramirez (Vilseck High School in Vilseck Germany) and Avalon Roche (Kaiserslautern American High School in Kaiserslautern Germany) will attend as the two DoDEA delegates to the 52nd annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) that will be held March 8 – 15, 2014 in Washington, D.C. The DoDEA students were selected from among hundreds of applicants to attend the 52nd annual Washington Week program.

Phillip Ramirez attends Vilseck High School in Vilseck Germany and serves as the Student Body president. He has also served as his class president for three years. He is a member of the Model U.S. Senate Board of Directors, the National Honor Society, and the school band. He has also earned varsity letters in cross country and track. Phillip plans to major in international business in college and hopes to become an officer in the U.S. military. He aspires to represent his fellow Americans in national government.
Avalon Roche attends Kaiserslautern American High School in Kaiserslautern Germany and serves as Student Body president. She is member of the National Honor Society, Model United Nations, and is a Girl Scout. She would like to study architecture with a minor in Chinese or Arabic. In the future, she would like to work for the United Nations preserving UNESCO World Heritage Sites or as an urban planner. Chosen as alternates to the 2014 program were David Neaverth who attends Seoul American High School in Seoul, South Korea and Luke Pirotta who attends Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan.
