School counselors are strategically positioned to help students in developing strategies to deal with educational, personal, and social challenges that may interfere with the educational process. To respond to the challenges of the DoDEA Strategic Plan, DoDEA is implementing a Competency-Based Counseling Program (CBCP) under the authority of DS 2946.1 in all schools. To meet the needs of all students today and tomorrow, the CBCP provides a balance of direct and indirect services and activities.
The VES Counseling Program follows the DoDEA well-balanced approach that is inclusive of the three domains of counseling: academic, social/emotional and career interests. The VES Counseling Program is designed around our school-wide behavior plan called ROAR. Respect-Ownership-Attitude-Responsibility are presented through classroom guidance lessons throughout the year.
Vilseck Elementary counselors service students at VES using a variety of delivery methods including: individual counseling, small group counseling, classroom guidance presentations, parent conferences, special education coordination and student referral services.
