Hello, I'm Nancy Bresell, director of DoDDS-Pacific. It's a pleasure to welcome all our teachers, students and parents to the DoDDS-Pacific schools as we begin our new academic year.

Our schools are fine places for the young people in our communities to learn and grow. The DoDEA Community Strategic Plan puts high student achievement at the top of our priorities, so you will see many of our initiatives focused on this goal.

Our theme for school year 2002-2003, DoDEA Reads, is designed to show the emphasis we place on literacy. Reading is a wonderful way to enrich our lives and it's a joy we want to share with all our students.

I look forward to visiting your schools and communities over the course of the upcoming year, and to seeing our students engaged in meaningful learning experiences and participating in our many outstanding school activities. And I look forward to working with all of you as we embark upon another very successful, very fulfilling year in the DoDDS-Pacific schools.
