The Sure Start program is thriving in the Italy District. The DoDEA wide program, which is similar to Head Start in the United States, provides school readiness education to a growing number of children ages 3 to 4 years. An extra pair of hands is always available in the Sure Start program. The extra hands are needed in all aspects of the program ranging from reading readiness activities, to healthy, midday snacks, to playground fun. The Sure Start program makes a significant contribution to military service personnel and is another example of how the DoD schools are integrated into the military community. |
