Captain Arne Nelson, USN, right, commander of NAS Sigonella, knows the importance parents in his command attach to high quality education. "We want Decatur School to provide the opportunity for our children to excel. The military commands can contribute to this excellence in a number of ways." Captain Nelson has approved an appropriate use of base internet connection resources by the school. During one of his weekly visits to the school, Captain Nelson had a chance to examine the school library computers and observe how students and school staff use the internet for educational activities.

Lt. Colonel Stockman, USA, Camp Darby Commander (Livorno), participated in a recent conference of DoDDS educators in Tirrennia, Italy, a short distance from his command. During a keynote address to over 100 school administrators, Colonel Stockman reiterated his commitment to maintaining high quality communications between schools and the military commands. After his presentation to the conference, Colonel Stockman visited conference sessions and spoke with school administrators.
