Service learning students
Beginning with the ninth grade in School Year 1998/1999 (graduating class of 2002), students must complete a 4-year cycle of service learning before graduating from a DoD school. Service learning requires students to examine how they may provide public service to their communities. High schools in the Italy District are applying characteristic vigor and imagination in supplying students with opportunities to complete service learning requirements in meaningful activities. On this page, ninth grade students work with their seventh grade schoolmates on social studies lessons. As well as providing service to community members, students must research community needs and evaluate the service they provide.
