Finocchiaro Selected as Associate Director
for Financial and Business Operations

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA—24 January 2004—DoDEA Director Dr. Joseph Tafoya has announced the selection of Ms. Irma P. Finocchiaro as the Associate Director for Financial and Business Operations for DoDEA. Ms. Finocchiaro was selected for the Senior Executive Service position by Principal Deputy Undersecretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness), Mr. Charles Abell.

      Ms. Finocchiaro has served as the DoDEA Comptroller since joining the organization in May of 1999.  Over the past year, Ms. Finocchiaro served as DoDEA's Acting Associate Director for Management in addition to fulfilling her Comptroller responsibilities.

      In making the announcement, Dr. Tafoya said of Ms. Finocchiaro, "She has served admirably as the DoDEA Comptroller since her arrival in 1999 and I am delighted for Irma and her well-deserved selection as the DoDEA Associate Director for Financial and Business Operations."

      Prior to joining DoDEA, Ms. Finocchiaro was a senior budget analyst in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller).  Her previous experience also includes serving as the financial manager for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Resource Management for U.S. Army South, and as a supervisory management analyst at Fort Clayton, Panama.  She was also a resource manager at Fort Rucker, Alabama.  During Operation SAFE HAVEN, she was the Comptroller for the Joint Task Force.

      Ms. Finocchiaro is a 1997 graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C.; a 1991 graduate of the Army Comptrollership Program, Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY; and a 1975 graduate of the Catholic University of Panama. She is a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers.

      In his closing remarks to the DoDEA community, Dr. Tafoya said "Please join me in congratulating Ms. Finocchiaro on her selection and in wishing her continued success in her new position."
