Falls Church, VA—October 16, 2002 - The DoDEA community
is mourning the loss of former Department of Defense Dependents Schools
(DoDDS) educator Mrs. Linda G. Franklin (formerly Belvin-Hubbard). She
is the ninth casualty of the sniper-type attacks occurring in the Washington
DC metropolitan area. She died Monday night from a single shot fired
at the Seven Corners Shopping Center in Fairfax County, VA.
Mrs. Franklin began her teaching career with DoDDS in 1987 at Stuttgart/Ludwigsburg
American High School (HS) in Stuttgart, Germany. She went on to teach
at Kubasaki HS in Okinawa, Japan and finished her last DoDDS assignment
in 1997 at SHAPE American Junior/HS near Brussels, Belgium. After DoDDS,
she continued her public service career as an Intelligence Specialist
with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
She is survived by her husband and her two adult children.
