Petty Officer Quinn Lyton:
From the news center in Washington this is AFRTS News. Students
at Department of Defense schools will be guided by a new set
of goals this year. Those goals are in included in the Department
of Defense Education Activity Community Strategic Plan. The
five-year plan focuses on just four primary goals: the Highest
Student Achievement, performance-driven Efficient Management
Systems, a motivated High-performance Workforce, and a network
of Partnerships Promoting Achievement.
Dr. Joseph Tafoya: We
involved command, parents, teachers, various study sessions
we had. We had a group here in D.C. representing all those groups.
Last year we came out with a plan, we put it on our website
inviting public comment and tried to focus on what it is we
need to do as an organization.
Lyton: Mr. Tafoya
says DoDEA will review the goals annually to see what worked
and what didnât, and where to go from there.
Tafoya: My goal this
year is that the strategic plan is going to allow us to look
at our management, our operating procedures, our workforce needs,
with all the focus on one critical question: How is this going
to affect local schools?
Lyton: Mr. Tafoya
says he wants the Community Strategic Plan to empower parents,
teachers, and administrators to have more of a say in the educational
products they're delivering to students. That's our report from
Washington. I'm Petty Officer Quinn Lyton.
