George Yorn: This is an AFRTS News Minute. Some of the Department of Defense Dependent School's best and brightest educators are recipients of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The award is the nation's highest honor for math and science teachers in grades kindergarten through 12th. The DoDDS teachers all hail from the Pacific theatre. They are Ms. Joan Islis, formerly of C.T. Joy Elementary School in Chinhae, Korea, Mr. Paul Taylor of Guam High School, and Ms. Janice Moreland of Seoul Middle School.

Janice Moreland: We feel very, very special, we feel like people are recognizing us for the hard work that we do, and teachers certainly need to be recognized for that.

Yorn: Each winner received a certificate signed by the President, a $7500 National Science Foundation grant, and the all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. That's an AFRTS News Minute.
