The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the largest nationally representative and ccontinuing assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas. DoDEA administers the NAEP every other year to students in selected grades on a variety of subjects to include mathematics, reading, science, and writing.
Beginning in 2017, the NAEP 4th and 8th grade reading and mathematics assessments will be administered to DoDEA students digitally. NAEP will provide tablets to students to record their answers. A subset of students, randomly selected by NAEP, will take paper-and-pencil versions of the assessments. NAEP is administering the assessments on tablets and in paper booklets to evaluate any differences in student performance.
