Administration - Outstanding Educators
  • Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program
Kathy Jerves, a teacher at SHAPE Elementary School, Mons, Belgium, was selected under the Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program 2002 to participate in the seminar taking place in New Zealand this summer. The program provides opportunities for educators and administrators with responsibilities for curriculum development in fields related to humanities, languages, and area studies. There are 10 seminars every summer with 16 positions per seminar. The 4-6 week seminars are designed to provide a broad and introductory cultural orientation to a particular country. The award includes round-trip airfare, room and board, tuition and fees, and program-related travel within the host country.

  • National Board Certification
Thomas Kelly Sisk, teacher of Talented and Gifted at Bitburg Elementary School, Bitburg, Germany, is one of only 6,502 teachers throughout the U.S. who achieved 2001 National Board Certification (NBC) by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. The National Board Certification signifies that Mr. Sisk has met the highest standards established for the teaching profession.
