Dr. Dell W. McMullen
Georgia/Alabama District Superintendent
Dr. Dell McMullen began her teaching career in 1973 with the Muscogee County School District in Columbus, Ga., and taught mathematics, science and physical education until 1979. She served as coordinator of the Health Improvement Program for the schools until being named Assistant Principal of Blanchard School for Muscogee County in 1984.
McMullen joined the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) in 1987 when she was selected as Principal of the Frank R. Loyd Elementary School on Fort Benning, Ga. In 1990, she was named Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum for the Fort Benning Community Schools and in 1994, she was named Superintendent. McMullen has been Superintendent of the Georgia/Alabama District since 2002.
She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Columbus College, in Columbus, Ga. She received her Specialist in Education certificate in 1982 from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga. She earned her Doctorate of Education Degree in 1990 from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala.
McMullen has earned many awards throughout her career. She received the National Excellence in Education Award in 2009, The Commander's Award for Civilian Service in 2008, and was inducted into the Columbus State University Hall of Fame in 2005. She was named a Columbus State University Outstanding Alumni in 2002.
