Mr. Michael Gould

Mr. Michael Gould

Mr. Michael Gould is a native of Pennsylvania. He began his teaching career in 1982 as a fifth grade teacher at Russell Elementary School in Quantico, Va. He taught third and sixth grade self-contained classrooms for 11 years. In 1987, Gould was selected for a team exploring the middle school concept at Quantico. He continued with the team when the sixth grade program was moved to Quantico Middle/High School in 1988.

During his early years in education, he also served as an assistant coach for the varsity football team, sponsored several elementary level extracurricular activities. He also served in various leadership roles involving school improvement. For four years, Gould was an Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) for the Quantico, Dahlgren and West Point schools. He was principal of Quantico Middle School for three years and Interim Principal at West Point Elementary School for six months. Prior to being named the NY/VA/Puerto Rico District Superintendent in 2007, he was the Assistant District Superintendent for eight years.

Gould earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Wilkes College (now Wilkes University) in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He received his Master's Degree in Education from The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction. Gould and his wife, Lori, have two daughters, Jessica Erin and Megan Elizabeth.
