conduct research and provide information to consumers on how to get the most
for your money. After discussing the
concern with your friends, your group decides to establish a consumer advocacy
team for your school.
1. As
part of the consumer advocacy team, you will publish a series of three articles
on how to be a wise consumer. You will
select topics that will be of interest to your age group. Some examples are:
q
best buys for pizza, hamburgers, soft drinks
q
getting the most for your money when purchasing a stereo system or
other electronic equipment
q
budgeting for clothing and shoes
q
getting a good deal on sports equipment such as baseball gloves,
bicycles, or roller blades.
2. As
part of the team, your job is to select a consumer product(s), conduct
research, and write about your findings.
Keep in mind the intent of your article, which is to assist classmates
in making wise decisions on how to spend their money. Use catalogues, Internet sites, local
exchange, or merchandisers to gather information to compare consumer
product(s). You are to consider cost,
