Writing:
By the end of the year, we expect kindergarten students to
produce narratives that:

contain a “story” that may be only a single event or
several events loosely linked, which the author may react to, comment on,
evaluate, sum up or tie together.
·
may include gestures, drawing and/or intonations that
support meaning.
·
may incorporate storybook language (for example, “and
they lived happily ever after”).
After returning from a study trip, the
teacher leads a discussion about what the children observed on the trip. A class chart is used to record and/or
illustrate the student responses. Each
student is provided with a large sheet of paper on which they can draw an
illustration and/or write corresponding text about something that happened on
the study trip.
Note: This would be an appropriate task for the beginning of the school
year.
