technology leadership team institute history |

| In August of 1999,
DoDEA in conjunction with North Central Regional Educational Laboratories
(NCREL) offered the first Technology Leadership Team Institute in Leesburg,
Virginia. Additional institutes were held during SY99-00 in Europe and the
Pacific. The Europe Institute was hosted by AFCENT International School
in Brunsum, The Netherlands and the Pacific Institute was hosted by the
Korea DSO in Seoul, Korea. In July of 2000, two more institutes were
held in Leesburg, Virginia. Two institutes were conducted in September
of 2000 at the Pacific Area Deputy Director's Office for schools in Guam,
Okinawa, Korea, and Japan. In the spring of 2001, two institutes were
conducted in Tokyo, Japan to finish all the Pacific Area schools. After
the two summer 2001 institutes, the number of participating teams (DDESS
and DoDDS) to 117. While this model was orginally developed in conjunction with NCREL, it is now the sole responsibility of DoDEA and has undergone changes since its original conception. We believe that the Institute is a small piece of the change process and additional follow-up at the district level is necessary. To ensure district personnel understand the purpose of the institute, we pair DoDEA district personnel with consultants to facilitate each homeroom. Last reviewed June 12, 2003 |
