Department of State - addresses: international travel information.

World Health Organization (WHO) - addresses: global outbreaks and response.

PandemicFlu.gov - Direct hyperlink to school planning portion of PandemicFlu.gov. Developed by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the checklist can assist local educational agencies in developing and/or improving plans to prepare for and respond to an influenza pandemic.

Center for Disease Control and Prevention - addresses: outbreak updates, modes of prevention, and flu educational facts. Search for U.S. State Health Department websites using the CDC locator.

Department of Health and Human Resource (HHS) - addresses: public health information, emergency preparedness, immunizations, and vaccines.

Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) - addresses: general avian flu facts and information.


DoD Coordination on National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza
The Department of Defense has created a partnership with other federal agencies to meet the objectives outlined in the President s National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza.

National Institutes of Health (NIH)
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The CDC is one of the 13 major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which is the principal agency in the United States government for protecting the health and safety of all Americans and for providing essential human services, especially for those people who are least able to help themselves. One of the most common ways people catch colds is by rubbing their nose or their eyes after their hands have been contaminated with the cold virus.
