DoDEA Announces New Superintendent Selection
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA — The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) announced the selection of Dr. Samantha Ingram as the Superintendent of the South Carolina/Fort Stewart/DoDDS-Cuba District schools.
DoDEA operates 190 schools overseas and on military bases throughout the United States, its territories and Cuba. These schools serve more than 84,000 children of military families.
"Dr. Ingram brings experience, education and determination to the mission," said Dr. Shirley Miles, Director of DoDEA. "Our children will be well served by the leadership she brings."
A native of Alabama, Ingram began her career as a science teacher. Since that time, she has held several leadership positions with multiple challenges.
Those positions have included Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor, School-to-Work Supervisor, Director of Program Development and Resources, Assistant Superintendent of the Division of Federal and Special Programs, Deputy Superintendent of the largest district in Alabama, and various other positions in both Alabama and Washington. She served the last two years as a superintendent in a small rural district in South Carolina. In 2003, she received a Doctorate of Philosophy in Instructional Design and Development from the University of South Alabama.
"I feel extremely honored and privileged to have the opportunity to serve our military families," Ingram said. "As I reflect on the work ahead, I am excited about working with my staff to ensure success for all students by providing high quality educational services."
DoDEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education programs for Department of Defense (DoD) dependents who would otherwise not have access to a high-quality, public education. DoDEA schools are located in Europe, the Pacific, the United States, Cuba, Guam and Puerto Rico. DoDEA also provides support and resources to Local Education Activities throughout the U.S. that serve children of military families.
