Quantico Middle Senior High School

Quantico Middle Senior High School – Trent Carlton, son of U.S. Marine Corps Major Mark and Jolynn Carlton, was accepted to both the Merchant Marine Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA). He has decided to attend the USNA and major in Political Science. Once he has fulfilled his military service obligation, Trent plans to enter into politics.

As a child, Trent said, he would much rather watch ESPN Sports, than cartoons, adding that he loves Tim Tebow! He is a very fun-loving, easy-going person. He has attended DoDEA schools for nine of the last 13 years, returning to Quantico four times. He has moved seven times. He is a deep thinker and has studied philosophy. When he was younger, his father was wounded in combat. The experience of having his father return home wounded made Trent decide to join the military. He said he saw the value in living each day and the blessings that it brings. "Life is short."

Trent said that the advantages of being a military "brat" are that he can adapt to any situation and is not affected by change. He has had the opportunity to see other cultures, people and areas.

The only disadvantage is that when he was filling out college applications, he did not have a "hometown."

He added that he loves all types of movies and fishing. He fishes with friends at least four times a week on base.
